How Our Reviews Work
We use manufacturer documentation, product specifications, published independent hands-on testing, marketplace information and comparisons with competing machines.
We clearly identify research-based reviews. If we have not personally tested a product, we do not claim that we have. We also do not assign numeric ratings to products we have not personally tested.

Our Editorial Approach
There is no single espresso machine that is best for every buyer. Convenience may reduce manual control. A built-in grinder can simplify a setup but provide less upgrade flexibility. More features may also mean more counter space and more maintenance.
Our job is to explain those trade-offs, identify meaningful drawbacks as well as advantages, and make clear which type of buyer a machine appears best suited for.
